• Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization (EPD):
  • EPD is an allergy treatment.  EPD has been in experimentation and use in England for over 20 years.  It has been in the USA, under FDA (IRB) observation for a few years.  With "red tape" FDA problems, EPD is replaced by an American version known as Low Dose Antigens (LDA).

  • Foundation for Integrated Medicine is a site associated with Dr. Leo Galland, MD.  This site covers a number of aspects including gut related problems which may be related to allergy and which may cause failures in EPD treatments.  For other references, search for "Galland" in the HealthWorld Search at HealthWorld.
  • Allergy and Asthma resources from the Mayo Clinic. Provides some published articles and other resources.
  • National Jewish Med Facts Subject List includes quite a number of allergy related pages from a conventional medical perspective.  The National Jewish Medical and Research Center deals in allergic, lung and immune diseases.

You may have to drill down from the Merck Homepage.  Some of this is doctor level or scientist level info.  May not be the industry best, but still an excellent resource for medical professionals.  Merck is a large maker of drugs and health care products.

• Clinical Ecology or Environmental Medicine:
  • American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) is an organization of environmental practitioners.
  • American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) provides info on finding an Alternative/Complimentary Doctor.
  • A positive view of Clinical Ecology can be found at the Environmental and Preventive Medicine Center of Atlanta.  This site also provides literature from some perspectives regarding EPD, Chelation, Mercury and quite a number of other topics.
• Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Treatment (NAET):
  • NAET is a very alternative approach to allergy treatment.  Controversy will continue until some scientific studies are available to prove or disprove the effectiveness.
  • Some mailing list info and other resources may be found in the Internet Resources Section of the EPD FAQ.
  • NAET.COM provides practitioner locators and information.  The sites are reportedly authorized by Dr. Nambudripad.
  • Allergy2000  provides info and  resources for NAET.  The updates section contains additions to the books list of NAET practitioners.  Also has a good link list concerning many allergy resources.  The book being pushed, WINNING THE WAR AGAINST ASTHMA & ALLERGIES: A drug-free cure for asthma and allergy sufferers, is published by Delmar Publishers.
  • Acupuncture.Com provides a world acupuncture referral list.  These may or may not do NAET.
  • Distance Healing (dead? 5/7/08) by a practitioner whose technique is based on NAET.  Description of using a pendulum included at this site.
  • Tapas Acupressure Technique (dead? 5/7/08) offers a description and contact point concerning TAT (no acupuncture needles).
  • Tapas Acupressure Technique appears to be the home page for the Tapas Flemming Acupressure techniques.

  • JMT or Jaffe Mellor Technique is a distant cousin of NAET aimed at pathogens and parasites.  This source site includes access to practitioners.
  • BIOSET Institute provides information on the Dr. Ellen W. Cutler cousin to NAET.  This source site includes access to practitioners.  Bioset reportedly doesn't require the 25 hour avoidance period that is common to NAET.
  • Clinical Outcomes of a Diagnostic and Treatment Protocol in Allergy/Sensitivity Patients (dead? 5/7/08) is a study of an energy based treatment plan and confirmed by Voll specified Electrodermal Skin Testing.  A good educational read on these topics.  From Alternative Medicine Review (dead? 5/7/08), Volume 6, Number 2, April 2001.

  • Health and Allergy Forecasts of pollens and molds (as well as other items) from  The Weather Channel.
  • The Allergy Report is a report of tree, grass, and weed pollens, as well as mold levels for US cities. From the  National Allergy Bureau and AAAAI.
  • Dayton Ohio Air Quality, from RAPCA, is updated  with daily readings.
  • More Weather and Environmental references.
  • Wisconsin Data Laboratory provides a food allergy analysis service.
  • Great Smokies Diagnostic Laboratory does diagnostics for parasites, leaky-gut, and many allergy related concerns.
  • A negative view of Applied Kinesiology and other diagnostics from Quackwatch.  Even if the reader disagrees with the findings, the identifications and descriptions are worth the visit.
• Drugs/Chemicals Information:
  • Chemical Searching  (includes drugs) from CambridgeSoft.
  • RxList - The Internet Drug Index includes drug lookup.  The drug lookup returns info much like the sheets from the drug stores.  Attempts to handle miss-spelled names.
  • HealthTouch Online includes drug and health information.
  • Clinical Pharmacology On-Line (dead? 5/7/08) indexes drugs and provides pictures of medications.
  • "Virtual" Pharmacy Center - Martindale's Health Science Guide has an incredible listing of drug, symptom and treatment databases.  The main page is huge and has lots of internal links - let it load before clicking!
  • Bizarre Chemical Discovery Gives Homeopathic Hint article gives a possible explanation on increasing strength of more diluted substances.  (Copy).
• Thyroid and Adrenal problems may be implicated as underlying some allergy related situations.  This might be especially true of "universal reactors" who have sensitivity to inhalants, foods and also chemicals/fumes.  Here are a few references (albeit with a slant towards Wilson's Syndrome, a low body temperature issue, and towards adrenal insufficiency):

  • Wilson's Syndrome Foundation provides info on a particular cold body problem.  Wilson's Syndrome would likely be considered as alternative medicine today though some conventional doctors are catching on.
  • Health and Wellness Center is the home of Dr. Rind, a visitor of Dr. Wilson's discussion forum and a source of Adrenal related information.  Adrenal related posts by Dr. Rind also have been captured at the  Wilson's Syndrome Foundation.  Low body temperature may also be an adrenal problem, especially if the temperatures are seen to be unstable.
  • Hypothyroidism - Michael Schachter from HealthWorld Online.  Includes references to Wilson's Syndrome and discussions on Adrenal problems as they relate to Thyroid problems.
  • Alternative Treatments For Hypothyroidism FAQ points to numerous hypothyroid resources and also to conditions which may mimic hypothyroidism.
  • Gail's Thyroid Tips (dead? 5/7/08) includes adrenal issues, hormone interactions, and tests.  Lots of links to other opinions for further research.

• Gut Dysbiosis and Parasites have been identified as interfering with EPD.   Some people think that intestinal problems may be related to low body temperature as well. It is beleived that gut problems (or "leaky gut" ) may allow undigested food proteins into the blood stream and thus the body fights these intruders and produces an allergic reaction.  Here is some gut related info:

  • Lyme Disease: Not much is known about the interaction of Lyme disease and EPD.  However, a few people failing EPD have later been found to have Lyme Disease.  Lyme disease (Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb)) has been named the "Great Imitator" in that it mimics the symptoms of a number of other diseases.  Lyme may or may not include: a bullseye rash, flu symptoms, brain fog, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, allergies, 28 day flare pattern, 1 year flare pattern, stiff neck, Bell's palsy,  Lupus, Candidiasis, chronic Mononucleosis, Hypoglycemia, stress-related illness, headache, fever, long term low body temperatures, red ears or cheeks, clumsiness, short term memory loss.  Babesiosis and Ehrlichiosis are often found to be co-infections with Lyme and are thought to be transmitted by similar means.
    • Overview of Neuropsychiatric Lyme Disease is an easy to read beginning point with short general coverage articles.  From NY State Psychiatric Institute.  The site includes the aspects of Lyme in children.
    • When to Suspect Lyme covers many signs and symptoms of  the disease.  The Cassia site also provides discussion alternatives to antibiotics as a treatment.
    • The Neuropsychiatric Assessment of Lyme Disease includes Neuropsychiatric Lyme Assessment form (which is incredible in the Excel download format if you can handle it).  From the Lyme section of Mental Health and Illness.com.
