DMA(TM) members know Terry White, Market Specialist for Adobe, from his February '97 presentation of Acrobat and PageMaker 6.5. Terry is well known in the industry for his talents with graphics products. Before joining Adobe, Terry served as Technology Manager for a firm where he conducted daily training classes in the latest graphics and Desktop Publishing software applications. Terry is also founder and president of MacGroup-Detroit, the largest Macintosh users group in Southeastern Michigan.
This time Terry will be presenting and demonstrating Adobe's PhotoShop and PhotoDeluxe. Be sure to come; besides seeing a great demo, learning more about graphics programs and how they can help you and your companies, and getting special prices on software that night, there will definitely be full copies given out to members for door prizes. (I know because they've already sent them in advance: Three copies of PhotoDeluxe, one of PageMill and one copy of Adobe Acrobat. Thank you, Adobe!). Terry has asked me to let members know they should bring their credit card or wallet that night, because he may have some specials too good to pass up.
This photo design and production application is used worldwide to create, retouch, and enhance images for virtually every medium - from print to the World Wide Web and everything in between. PhotoShop 4.0 gives graphic designers, photographers, muiltimedia specialists, videographers, and Webmasters the power to create compelling images and precision to prepare them for any medium.
Here's a quick listing of the top 10 new features in version 4.0, that Terry White will be demonstrating in detail on November 25.
One of the hottest new features in Adobe(R) PhotoShop(R) 4.0 is the new Actions palette. Record a multi-step editing operation as an Action, and you can play back the effect again and again with just a click of the mouse. You can even use Actions for batch processing an entire folder full of files. Say goodbye to tedious file conversions for the Web - just create an Action that reduces your images to indexed color and exports them to GIF89a format.
Best of all, you can share your Actions with other PhotoShop users, even between Macintosh and Windows(R) platforms. One PhotoShop user has even established the Action Xchange Web site (jmc.mit.edu/photoshop/), where you'll find a cool collection of special effects Actions that you can download.
Interested in learning more about Adobe PhotoShop 4.0 firsthand? Come to DMA's General Meeting presentation by Terry White at U of D. on November 25, then follow up by getting the free tryout version Adobe is making available. The Adobe PhotoShop 4.0 Tryout includes the same core features as the retail version of Adobe PhotoShop 4.0, but you won't be able to save or print your work. You can experiment with all of the new features like Actions, Adjustment Layers, Guides & Grids, and more. Note: To minimize the size of the tryout, only a small sampling of the Adobe PhotoShop 4.0 plug-in filters are included.
Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0 - Only $39.00 the night of the meeting.
Make the Most of Your Photos

Adobe(R) PhotoDeluxe(R) 2.0 makes it easier than ever to make the most of your favorite photos. Plus, be sure to ask Terry about the new Adobe Connectables feature, where you get new Guided Activities every month via the Web
PhotoDeluxe is based on the award-winning tool for professionals, Adobe PhotoShop(R).
Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0 for Windows has a street price of about $49.00 and Adobe is now offering DMA(tm) members a special price of $39. Terry White says to bring your credit cards or cash Nov. 25 to the DMA(tm) meeting because he'll have more special pricing for members. (Often it is worthwhile for visitors to join DMA(tm) that night and pay the annual membership cost of only $12. because they will save that much or more with special pricing being offered to members, for great software! )
