Annual State-of-the-Organization Report & Elections

This month is the annual business meeting, including a state-of-the-organization report and elections.

Special Door Prize

We will have a special door prize for this meeting. Esquire Magazine just released their 75th Anniversary issue with a (first-time-ever) E-ink panel on the front page. One copy will be offered as a door prize.

Microsoft Live OneCare Rebuttal, by Tom Ernst

This month, Tom Ernst will be delivering a counter presentation to Martin Arbagi's presentation on Microsoft's "Live OneCare", a multiple use anti-virus/ anti-spyware program. As you know, Martin wasn't entirely pleased with the product, and even though he was unable to install and use the program, gave it very low ratings.

On the other hand, Tom has used "OneCare" for an extended period, and has found it to be a most useful product. We'll also be looking at "Windows Defender", a Microsoft product that fights spyware, pop-ups, and slow performance.

C's Pizza has provided us with several gift certificates for our member-only raffle at the general meeting. We will probably try to distribute these over a couple of months.

Next Month: TBA

Golden Oldies

Image: Golden turntable Also, did you know that the DMA is approaching a third century? We didn't until Gary Turner mentioned it. And he should know since he's been here for most of that time.

So to celebrate, we are planning a Thirty Three and a Third party. Details are to be finalized but the plan is for a picnic, perhaps pot luck, with DMA providing the hotdogs and hamburgers. We'll be looking for folks to help with the planning committee so if you are interested, let Gary know.

Reason for Changes

DMA Trustees have been struggling to provide adequate facilities for our monthly General Membership meetings. Both UD and WSU presented challenges. We have been searching for a location that is comfortable for our members, room enough for all attendees, offers free parking, equipped with audio, visual, and internet, and still affordable for the organization. HHAF Hall meets all qualifications. Apple-Dayton meets here regularly.

April was our trial month and it went well. We have reserved the Warrior Room for the coming year.

All are welcome. The meetings start at 7:00 p.m. Guests are always welcome.
