Intel

Jeff Carlson from Intel® Corporation will be joining us to discuss the latest and greatest in Intel's processing power, the i7 and Atom processors. The i7 is used primarily in desktop computers, and the Atom processor in what's been popularly been referred to as a "Netbook" computer. For those not familiar with the concept, a Netbook computer is one of the new smaller types of ultra-portable computers, such as the Acer Eee PC, or the Dell Inspiron Mini 9. These sell for as low as $248.00, either on the web, or from a local retailer such as Wal Mart. (surprised? I certainly was) BTW, we've rescheduled the presentation on Netbooks to the March meeting. As you recall, the January meeting was cancelled due to the weather.

We'll probably have a surprise in the door prize department too, as the last time Jeff presented at DMA in 2002, he gave away a brand new laptop computer. (We should also be so lucky!) But in any case, regardless of what Jeff brings, we'll have some great door prizes to give away.

C's Pizza has provided us with several gift certificates for our member-only raffle at the general meeting. We will probably try to distribute these over a couple of months.

Next Month: "Netbook" PCs

Golden Oldies

Image: Golden turntable Also, did you know that the DMA is approaching a third century? We didn't until Gary Turner mentioned it. And he should know since he's been here for most of that time.

So to celebrate, we are planning a Thirty Three and a Third party. Details are to be finalized but the plan is for a picnic, perhaps pot luck, with DMA providing the hotdogs and hamburgers. We'll be looking for folks to help with the planning committee so if you are interested, let Gary know.

Reason for Changes

DMA Trustees have been struggling to provide adequate facilities for our monthly General Membership meetings. Both UD and WSU presented challenges. We have been searching for a location that is comfortable for our members, room enough for all attendees, offers free parking, equipped with audio, visual, and internet, and still affordable for the organization. HHAF Hall meets all qualifications. Apple-Dayton meets here regularly.

April was our trial month and it went well. We have reserved the Warrior Room for the coming year.

All are welcome. The meetings start at 7:00 p.m. Guests are always welcome.
