In cases where I was not given a photo (so far, that's all cases
except my own and Roger Jensen), I used one I've taken. If you
have better photos, please submit them to Dave Lundy.

I was one of the original DMA® members, and have been active in
DMA® from the beginning. I was delighted when Millard started the
Digital Photography SIG and have enthusiastically participated in it since
its first meeting. I got my first camera while in junior high school.
My first darkroom experience was while stationed near Goose Bay Labrador -
it didn't have running water! I got to use the color lab at Goose Bay a
couple times, but didn't get very good results due to lack of experience.
A couple years later, I was stationed in Berlin, where I bought a nice
German-made 35mm camera, and used it quite a bit and did some of my
own B/W processing. After returning to civilian life, I didn't do much
photography for several years. Eventually I switched to digital in the
summer of 2001, shortly before a trip
to Alaska. I've taken far more pictures since switching to digital
than I ever did before! And I much prefer a digital darkroom versus
a chemical darkroom. ![[grin]](/images/smiley.gif)
I have used various photo editing programs, including Adobe Photoshop
Elements 2.0 & 4.0, Corel (formerly JASC) Paint
Shop Pro, versions 8, 9, and X, and The
GIMP, an excellent free editor available for Linux,
Windows, and OS X. I finally bit the bullet and got Adobe Photoshop
CS3 in the summer of 2007. I've dabbled a bit with HDRI
using the demo version of Photomatix. I have
also tried my hand at video editing a few times, using Pinnacle Studio and Adobe Premiere Elements
2.0.
I am also the webmaster (using the term rather
loosley) of www.dma.org, this SIG, and the Linux SIG
sites. See my
web site for more info, and some photos in my gallery.

Dean is a regular contributor of interesting bits of information
at our meetings. Dean has uploaded a few pictures to his gallery.

Gary was one of the founding members of the Dayton Microcomputer
Association, and has been an active member ever since. He has
been president more than once and has also been chairman of Computerfest®,
and president of GEMAIR. GT,
as he is known to most DMA® members, has been a friend of Dave
Nevel's since before DMA®. Together, they started DMA's UNIX SIG
which eventually led to the birth of dmapub (the computer which serves
this web site).
-
Jessica has been an occasional attendee and is an enthusiastic GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)
user.
-
Jim is a retired Springfield policeman and regular attendee at our SIG.
He also runs NASAC, a small computer
club which usually meets in Xenia. In addition, he is a member of the
DMA® board of directors, and has been helpful in obtaining speakers
for various DMA® meetings. Jim also designed and printed name badges
for our SIG.
-
Joe is one of our regular participants, and filled in as SIG leader
during Millard's sojourn abroad. Joe has been the presenter at several
of our meetings and always teaches us something new. He's particularly
fluent with the many uses of layers.
-
Ken has been a great help to the dmapub and GEMAIR projects from day one.
He occasionally gives presentations, usually regarding perl, and is
a frequent participant in Dayton Perl
Mongers. Ken is also a good photographer, as we hope to soon see at his
gallery.
See Ken's web site for
more info.

Lou has been an active participant in our group from
the beginning, and has served as a beta tester for JASC Paint Shop Pro.
She has also helped with Computerfest®, and is the leader of the
Digital Textiles SIG. A sample of her work regarding the textiles SIG
is the embroidered ducks on her shirt. Sorry about the blur - it was
a hand-held shot at 1/8 second without flash [DL].
-
Millard started this SIG and was its leader from it's inception in
January 2003 through April 2005. He had been involved with DMA®
and Computerfest® for several years and had been a DMA® board
member as well as Computerfest® chairman.
For two months in 2004, Millard was privileged
to accompany three well known wildlife photographers
on a photo safari in India. Millard took us along for a virtual
tour.
-
Roger (A.K.A. 007) has been a regular attendee and has often shown us
some interesting gadgets.
Roger has been a member of DMA® and the photo sig since
shortly after retiring from a 42 year career with NCR where he was
the "Head of Product Management for Convenience ATMs".
He has had a long time love affair with photography and has used a
digital since the early Sony Digital with a 2 inch floppy. He also
enjoys travel with his wife of 40 years, Nancy. So, when he isn't
photographing grandkids, he will be showing off his travel photos.
-
Steve is one of our more active participants, and has been the
featured presenter at a couple of our meetings. Steve is a quite capable
photographer, and has created several entertaining slide shows using Anix Software's MySlideShow.
