DARA will be giving license exams Friday January 19 at 7:30pm at the
DARA clubhouse, 6619 Bellefontaine Road in Huber Heights. This is just
NE of the intersection with Chambersburg Rd. Look for the towers.
Walk-ins are welcome.

As most of you have heard, the FCC has announced that they will be
dropping the requirement for Morse Code from all license classes. The
effective date of this change has not been announced, but it is
anticipated to be after our January 19 date. The purpose of this exam
is to give anyone who wants to take a code test (there are those out
there), a final chance and to give our VE's one last chance to
administer a code test. However, the other elements will also be
offered.

Note, that since this session is before the rules change, to earn a
General or Extra class license, you must still pass the code test. If
you just pass the written test(s), you will only receive a CSCE that
will give you credit for the elements you passed for one year. Once the
new no code rules are in effect you will have to visit another exam
session, pay the test fee, if any, and do a paperwork only upgrade to
get your license. The CSCE will not automatically convert to a license.
In fact, the FCC has no record of the CSCE, only the VE team and their
VEC keep copies of CSCE's.

There is no fee for this test session.

* Since we are into winter, the session may be canceled by severe
weather. Check out the W8BI repeater (146.91-, PL 100) if the weather is
questionable.

If you have any questions, drop me an email.

73,
Mark

P.S. I'm also in need of VE's. If you would like to help out, drop me an
email.
