Folks,
I attended the SW OH Digital Symposium on Saturday. There was a
demonstration of the Softrock 5. This is a continuation of the Softrock 40
that we started to look at as a club project. Apparently kits are still
available. Check out www.hamsdr.com. It looks like you need to log in
before you can get to the ordering page. One difference between the 5 and
the 40 is that the frequency source and bandpass filtering is a plug in.
This would allow you to build the radio to operate on different frequencies.
With a VFO you could cover all of 40 and 30 meters (limited by the bandpass
filters). There are two SMT (surface mount) chips on the board, the rest is
through hole. Could this be a ham SIG project?
