The following message was originally sent by George Ewing to the
Cert-SIG mailing list last night. However, due to some bits and pieces
still not finished from the dmapub server replacement Sunday afternoon -
Mailman in particular - it bounced so I sent this as BCC to several of
the individual list members before apparently SBC blacklisted me and I
couldn't finish sending to the rest of the list members.
I believe I finally have the Mailman mailing list working now, so
everyone should get this. Sorry about the duplicates for those who also
got it last night.

DMA®’s Certification Sig changes to ‘Hands-On’
The Certification Sig will change gears from typical studying for a
particular exam to a “Hands-On Practical” type format. We are going to
create a ‘Certification Playground’. Our goal is to demo the tools
(software and hardware) and operating systems. As a group we will
install, configure, troubleshoot and implement computer based
functionality. We will, where possible, correlate with certification
exams. We anticipate covering file servers, print server, application
server, web server, e-mail server, proxy/cache, firewall, router, etc.
We will start by performing basic installation and setup covering both
Linux and Windows based servers. Along the way we will discuss the
architecture and security implications of various implementation
schemes, and have the chance to have ‘Hands-On’ experimentation with
various network tools and intrusion techniques.
The final curriculum is still being developed, with an anticipated start
date in the late October time frame. We anticipate the cost to be less
than $30.00.
If you have items you would like to see covered - you have to let us
know. We have started a thread on the DMA FUD forums
http://www.dma.org/fud/index.php?t=tree&goto=386&rid=35 Please post
here (registration required) ASAP so we can include your request in our
curriculum, if possible.
