Hi, SIG guys! I just got back from PyCon... I'm happy, so happy. What a
blast. :)
And I got an idea for April, or whenever our next empty meeting slot is. I
want to lead a session called "Teach Me Ruby".
Because I don't know Ruby.
Got that?
It's a new, incredibly awesome teaching technique which (AFAIK) was invented
on Saturday at PyCon. You can read about it on my blog:
http://catherinedevlin.blogspot.com/2008/03/teach-me-twisted.html
Basically, the person leading the discussion *doesn't* know the topic.
Instead, she asks questions to the experts and makes them talk her through
the task - on her own terms.
I need promises from at least two people to promise to come and play the
role of Ruby experts, though. ("Expert" can be rather broadly defined here
as "knowing a lot more about Ruby than me", which isn't a very tall
hurdle.) Alternately, I could lead Teach Me PHP.
Want to try it? If we can achieve even one-tenth the awesomeness of the
PyCon version, it will be well worthwhile for everyone.
See you in April! (Oh, and don't forget Penguicon, April 18 - 20:
