Thanks to all who have responded. In my opinion, all SIG meetings, especially
any change of meeting location or date, should be mentioned a few days in
advance on the mailing list, FUD forum, or both. The lack of anything either
place makes it appear that the SIG is not meeting and discourages potential new
members from attending.
The Linux SIG disabled posting on the FUD forum a few months ago and placed an
announcement to that effect there. Our members agreed that it's easier to use
the mailing list than the forum. About the only advantage of the forum I can
think of is the ability to have polls, but they haven't been used much on our
system. I've heard that FUD forum can be integrated into the Mailman mailing
list so that posting to *either* automatically posts to the other also,
therefore people who prefer forums can use them while those who prefer mailing
lists can do so, and both groups are happy. But I don't know how to do that.
If there's enough interest, I'll look into it.
