GENEALOGY NEWS 20061121
Next Meeting of the DMA Genealogy SIG will be Thursday, 7 December 2006 at 7 PM in the Wright State University Dunbar Library. Staff members, Ms Dawne Dewey and Ms Toni Jeske will be addressing the SIG on the preservation of old documents and photographs. This would be a great time to bring a friend or fellow genealogist to one of our meetings. If members of the Ohio Genealogical Society-Montgomery County Chapter have an interest in these subjects, they are certainly welcome to attend with us (up to the max volume of the room we will be in). Go to the fourth (4th) floor and I am sure that someone will meet you there and direct you to the room we will occupy.
I would also like to thank the library staff in advance for this opportunity. Since we normally have our meeting from 7 - 9 PM, they are accommodating our two-hour meeting time which extends past their closing time of 8 PM. We will depart their facility by 9 PM at the latest to return the favor of their consideration to us.
Now, there is one little fly in the ointment: there are only 10 Visitor Parking slots in the closest parking spaces (in front of the Dunbar Library, up front, under the overhang); more than that and you should look for spaces in Lot #11 (parking spaces should not really be much of a problem at the hour we will be meeting). Parking passes are $2 each at the front desk (some of you may want to consider car pooling). [NOTE: This is the same arrangement as when the big DMA monthly meeting is held at Wright State; members have to pay $2 for parking for those meetings also.]
Additional information on locating the library may be found on the following WSU website: http://www.libraries.wright.edu/about/lochours/plddir.html
I would appreciate it if you would drop me a line (email: jotaito at aol.com) or call me (cell: 937-825-0691) to let me know that you plan to attend this meeting; I get nervous when I don't have any idea how many to tell our hosts to expect. And, if you are bringing a friend(s), tell me how many total, please.
I know that other people are looking at our website; and YOU are invited to attend this meeting too. It is free! Parking might be the only cost. We won't embarrass you. We will be glad to meet you though and hope you will be encouraged to continue your efforts in genealogy and family history.
Hope to see everyone at the meeting. Talk it up a little with your friends and neighbors!
