We're having a Linux Installfest Saturday June 26 from 10am - 4pm
on the 2nd floor of building 4 at the Sinclair Community College,
444 W Third St., Dayton. I believe you can park in parking garage A
(Mead St.), which connects to building 4 via an overhead walkway, or
surface lot B (W. 4th St.) for free. Sinclair College will provide
carts to transport your equipment to/from your car. Details are at
<http://www.dma.org/linuxsig/events.shtml#Install6-04>. There is no
admission fee for this event. Please sign in when you arrive.
We will have some power strips, an LCD projector cart, cable, and
Internet access. We may have a limited number of monitors, keyboards,
mice, power cables, etc., but it's always best to bring your own. So, if
you can provide any of those items, especially power strips, Cat 5 cables,
switches or hubs, we'd greatly appreciate it. Also, please bring some
spare CDs (preferably with a recent release of Mandrake, RedHat, SuSE,
or other recent distro already burned on them). We'll have some distros
already burned and at least one PC to burn CDs on request for a small fee.
Some snacks will be provided by Sinclair, but the cafeteria will be closed.
If you've never installed Linux before, please read
<http://www.dma.org/linuxsig/Linux-install.shtml> first. We'll be
glad to assist you any way we can, but it helps if you come prepared.
Expect about an hour for a basic installation on a fairly standard PC.
If your PC is very old or very new, or you have exotic hardware or a
laptop, there may be situations that could take longer.
My apologies if you've already received his message via the Linux-SIG mailing
list, or as a member of the Linux interest list.
