OK... sometimes we find things to share that are funny or really
meaningful but here is something just plain cool. We usually talk about
digital photography in terms of megapixels. Well what does a 3.8
GIGApixel image look like? Eric Hanson, one of our truly gifted visual
effects artists here in LA, decided to find out. He and his team went up
to Yosemite and located the spot Ansel Adam used for his famous
photograph. Using a motion control head and spherical mapping, they
tiled over 300 pictures together to form a resultant image 90,000 pixels
wide and 22 Gigabytes! The image takes over an hour to load in
Photoshop. BUT you can view a compressed version of it in a view seconds
at this site...
