[Photo-SIG] Be careful what address you use to post messages

Due to the overwhelming amount of spam we've had to contend with since
loosing our bastion hosts in the sale of GEMAIR, I've changed the way
that Mailman deals with mail from non-subscribers for this list.  Until
this afternoon, all messages from non-subscribers generated a message
to the list moderators that the message was being held pending approval.
All such messages also used to send a response back to the sender saying
that their message was being held for approval because the sender was
not subscribed to the list.  I'm sure some of you have received such
notices.  But most spams don't come from legitimate addresses, so when
they can't be delivered, we get yet another message.  Sheesh!  So a few
months ago I turned off that option.  Now *nobody* (not the sender, the
list moderator(s), nor the list owner) gets notified when messages are
sent from an address that is not subscribed to the list.  So, if you
send a message to the list but don't see it get posted, it's probably
because you have multiple e-mail addresses and are subscribed using one
address but sent the message using a different address.  Send the
message again but use the address you're subscribed with.  Another
reason you might not see your message posted right away is that we set
all new members as "user is moderated" until you've posted your first
message and a list owner or moderator approves it.  Once we've reviewed
the post and made sure it isn't spam, we tend to approve it and unset
the moderated bit so future posts aren't held for review.

How do you know what address you're subscribed with?  Each month you will
receive a message from all lists you're subscribed to that we maintain.
It will include the address you're subscribed with and the name of each
of our lists that you're subscribed to and the password for each list,
which you'll need if you want to change any of your settings or view
archives of privately archived lists.
