[Photo-SIG] Photography DVD

Some of you have expressed interest from time to time in exploring the art of
photography. Millard had set that as one of his goals when he started the SIG,
but nobody, including myself, stepped forward to lead any sessions on the
topic. The last time I was visiting the Montgomery County Library, I noticed a
DVD titled "Digital Photography, Crafting Images", by Brian Ratty, so I checked
it out. It's not great, but certainly worth watching at the price. ;-) He has
another DVD which I also checked out, called "Digital Photography, The Camera".
Unless you're totally new to photography, I'd skip it. A lot of it's
duplicated in the other DVD, and not much of either is really specific to
digital photography - it applies equally well to film photography. So if you
have an hour and a half or so that you would like to spend reviewing
photography techniques and photography in general, you might find it worthwhile
if you consider yourself relatively an amateur photographer. I think most of
us, except Jim Scherer, probably fit in that category. My biggest complaint
about both DVDs is there's soothing music constantly playing in the background
and I had trouble staying awake.
