[Photo-SIG] New dSLR Cameras & other stuff

At tonight's meeting I mentioned a couple new dSLR cameras that have
recently been announced.  The first was the Canon EOS 40D

second was the Nikon D300 <www.snipurl.com/peep/1pvs3> or
<www.snipurl.com/peep/1pvrw>.  I didn't mention the full frame Nikon
D3 <www.snipurl.com/peep/1pvru> or <www.snipurl.com/peep/1pvsn>.
Amazon.com is already accepting pre-orders for the Canon 40D
<www.snipurl.com/peep/1pvss>, but they have no mention yet of either
Nikon.

For those of you who enjoy watching giant scale model airplanes, there
will be lots of them on Labor Day weekend at the Air Force Museum.

I mentioned that Tripod Camera Club <www.tripodcamera.com> is having
their annual photo outing this Saturday at Caesar Creek State Park.
They will meet at the Hopewell Day Lodge at 8 am.  They will be
exploring the wetlands near the lodge until 10 am looking for
butterflies, spiders, and other critters.  From 10 to noon they're
expecting Gene Brown to have some rescued animals available to
photograph.  Last year he had some young raccoons and a baby gray
squirrel.  You're on your own for lunch.  From 2 to 4 they will have a
few models wearing period clothing to shoot at Pioneer Village.  They
will return to the lodge for a pot luck supper.  There is no charge
for this event and you may come and go as you wish - there's no need
to stay for the entire day.  There will be several excellent
photographers available to offer help.  I thoroughly enjoyed last
year's event.

Nancy mentioned a train shoot by Focus Photo Club, but I haven't found
any specific info on it yet.  Last month's "Out of Focus" newsletter
mentioned a possible Train Shoot in August or September.

Finally, the Xenia Rail & Arts Fest <www.xacc.com/Railandartsfest.cfm>
is this Saturday.
