Our newest forum system is on-line at < www.dma.org/fud/ > and I
expect it will soon completely replace the others (phpBB2 and
Invision Power Board) we've been testing for the past several months.
On the afternoon of September 29, I "cloned" the contents of our
Invision Power Board installation to our installation of FUDforum.
That included all users and posts made to that point. Subsequently,
I've made a few enhancements to FUDforum. Some of the advantages of
FUDforum include:
*  Built-in search function
* Forums may be viewed by threads
* Forums can have none, one, or multiple moderators
* Each forum has its own group
*  Integrated spell checker
* More formatting options for messages
* Users can be members of multiple groups, with different permissions per
group, allowing better control of who has access to various functions

As far as I can tell, about the only down side compared to the others
we've tried is the administration control panel, but ordinary users don't
see that. A couple other minor issues are the lack of topic views (how
many times an article has been read) and the lack of a calendar. No
calendar is not a huge loss as far as I'm concerned. We can still use the
same calendars we've been using for years, but they don't automatically
insert birth dates. The Invision calendar (phpBB didn't have one) didn't
have the ability to enter repeating events, so it was only marginally
useful. I think I can probably figure out how to add topic view counts
eventually.

A forum has already been created for each of the existing DMA® SIGs and
new forums can be created in short order as needed.
