Hi,

"New guy" chiming in. Did anyone find out how many
are subscribed to the list?

As to increasing attendence, how about using projects
to encourage regular attendence or least
communication? They would help to provide topics to
discuss between and sometimes during meetings. They
could also conceivably inspire new presentations.

There are three catagories of projects I can think of:
topical projects, group projects, community projects.

Topical projects are simple projects based on the
technology presented for the audience to take home and
tackle. These would be the easiest to put into
practise as well as the most likely to generate
discussion on the list and message boards in the short
term.

Group projects are pretty self-explainitory. The
payoff for a good group project is much greater than
the topical projects. Interest would last longer and
would allow social bonds to form. The only problem is
coming up with a project that would interest a group.

Community projects are also self-explainitory. The
benefits of community projects would probably be a mix
of the two previous types, but would probably be the
most difficult to find.

As for project proposals, I have too little knowledge
of the group to make any.
