[Software-Development] Meeting this Thursday

So I guess you are all waiting for me to send a message to the list?

We're having a meeting this Thursday May 12 at 6:30. I'd like to continue
the discussion we started last time.

For those of you who were not there, we talked about the possibility of
working on a project as a group. And I thought of a possible project that
could start small and could build into something bigger. I recently ran
across an open source project from ThoughtWorks called Tree Surgeon
(http://confluence.public.thoughtworks.org/display/TREE/Tree+Surgeon). Tree
Surgeon will set up a tree of development folders. But it does not really
do exactly what I want, or at least I don't think it does. (Those of you
who know me well will certainly be shocked by this).

So I thought it might be interesting to create something that in its first
iteration would maybe just copy a set of folders and files in those folders,
which would allow me to set up template folders and copy them for a new
project. I could easily see future versions with more sophisticated
scripting abilities, maybe with the ability to drive things through XML
configuration files, or prompt for information interactively, create virtual
directories, etc.

And I suggested last time that we pick a language that nobody knows to work
in. I suggested Ruby, since I've been looking for an excuse to use Ruby.
And it is free.

So come to the meeting and we can talk about these and other crazy ideas.
Or whatever else you'd like to talk about.
