On Friday, May 24, Shawna and I were married on the shore of Lake Erie.  Although the forecast was calling for rain, thankfully the weather cooperated, and we were able to have the outdoor ceremony we wanted.  We were married right where we originally met, Beulah Beach, and where I proposed to Shawna on March 16.  Conducting the ceremony was Pastor Russell Rice, a  relative as well as an old family friend, who drove up from S. Carolina to be there.  Interestingly, Russell also first met his wife Beverly at Beulah Beach, nearly 51 years ago.

  I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who helped with the decorations, the culinary staff at Beulah Beach who provided an excellent meal, and for everyone who has wished us well.  We also appreciate all the gifts that have been showered on us, and for everyone who has sent us letters.  We would like to thank everyone who helped us in starting a mission fund, which we will use over our lifetimes to support our two favorite charities.  Currently, these are Samaritan's Purse and Immanuel Bible School,Indonesia.  Samaritan's Purse is much like the Red Cross, but is a more efficient organization overall, with a much stronger evangelical Christian focus.  Immanuel Bible School is a facility helping to train local Christian pastors and ministers in Indonesia, the world's 4th most populous nation.
