Pfaff Embroidery Tips

Generally Applies to All Machines

Pfaff WANTS IT CLEAN: Pfaff demands a clean bobbin loop area so tread bundling and breakage will not occur between the fabric and the needle plate. Pfaff is quite sensitive about this. The following are critical:

  1. Keep the bobbin area clean by a regular brushing. I use a camera lens Blower Brush.
  2. CRITICAL: When a Bobbin Low message happens ALWAYS CLIP THE BOBBIN THREAD AT THE BASE OF THE FABRIC (between the fabric and the needle plate). This will ensure that only the new bobbin thread is in the bobbin area. ANY EXTRA TREADS or debris will cause the bobbin tread to tangle and cause tread bundling and breakage between the fabric and the needle plate.

Threading The Next Color:

  1. Clip the present thread at the fabric.
  2. Then raise the presser foot.
  3. Remove the present thread and rethread the machine with the next thread, except the needle.
  4. Lower the presser foot.
  5. Thread the needle.

Make Sure the Stabilizer to Taunt: This helps the tread bobbin to loop properly and keep the tension correct.

Heavy Fabrics in Larger Hoops: Use sticky stabilizer and the loop clips to keep the stabilizer taunt. Then do a Basting function after putting the fabric on the sticky stabilizer.

Precise Positioning This is a fine feature that can be used to connect different designs after rehooping or a single design that needs to have additional sewing. Use the 2170 or the 2144 with the latest firmware upgrade.
