Tonica's Place In Cyberspace: our humble abode

Disclaimer: we wrote most of this shortly after buying our hour in 2003. The pictures are from that time period as well.

We bought a house! We signed the initial paperwork on 2003-01-27 and we closed on 2003-02-28! Yee haa. We haven't had a lot of time to enjoy it yet, but have found a bit of time to sit on the porch, walk through the woods, and enjoy life in the country. Jester is in little doggy heaven. He has a new best friend, Zed [now deceased :(], and has finally found the limits of his puppy-energy and is usually ready to passout before we even head to work. Lucky dog.

The property consists of six forested acres with a sizable stream running through the middle. The house is fairly spacious with cedar siding, hardwood/tile flooring, Jenn-Air[tm] island in the kitchen, vaulted living-room/great-room ceiling with skylights, central vacuum, marble-floored sun room with hot tub, and a fireplace.

In the back there is both a screened-in porch as well as a open-air deck.

Only three disadvantages: the neighborhood is of mixed house quality (the rapid pace of development in the area should render this issue moot - it's a gamble), the commute is non-trivial (we learn to live with it), and it only has two bedrooms (affects resale - can always build another room).

The property is the closest we've found to our dream house and we only slightly exceeded what we wanted to pay. The kids (Grody, Meso, and Jester) will be pleased to have a bit of room; Monica has the house and hot-tub she always wanted; and Todd can get all primal in the woods. ;)

Property listing and Franklin County records:

Included is the realty listing, and lots of info I gathered off of the Franklin County site, or more specifically this site. We are parcel 6115.

Some house exteriors (to include outside structures):

Back, front, driveway, driveway, well (will make look nicer), terraced steps (need to be completed), broken hot-tub heater, propane tank (need to camoflage), shed (need to make prettier), dog pen (need to clean up).
NOTE (2006): we have cleaned up a lot of the crap laying around since these photos were taken. We have also shingled and painted the well-house and replaced the roof, furnace, and air-conditioner. The hot-tub has long been fixed and we converted the gas-log fireplace to real wood!

Most photos taken in January of 2003.

Various photos showing off the land (2003-01-29):

The stream really was a big big plus for us. The sellers didn't even advertise it! Can you believe it?

House interiors - (need far more photos):

Some of the homes and whatnot in the neighborhood:

There are some ratty houses/trailers in the neighborhood, but then there are also some nicer places. We took these photos during the time leading up to the decision to buy. I especially liked the trailor with a tarp on its roof, x-mas decorations (it's the end of January), misc. junk in the yard, and seven cars parked in front.

Photos taken around the end of January, 2003.
