Three Other Staff Appointments Announced

Dallas, TX – October 10, 2014 – The Dallas Museum of Art today announced that Brenda Berry has been named its Chief Financial Officer. Berry joined the Dallas Museum of Art in 2012 as its controller. With this promotion, Berry is responsible for all accounting, financial operations, and financial reporting for the Museum, which has a $26 million total budget. She will report to DMA Director Maxwell L. Anderson.

“Brenda has already proven herself to be an integral part of the DMA’s leadership, and we are fortunate to be able to benefit further from her extensive background and deep-seated professionalism,” stated Anderson.

Berry joined the DMA from Resources Global Professionals (RGP), a consulting firm with 70 offices in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. From 2010 to 2012, she was RGP’s Senior Client Services Director, Dallas, and prior to that she was the company’s Managing Director, Oklahoma.

Berry’s earlier professional experience includes Audit Partner and other executive positions at Hogan & Slovacek, Tulsa and Deloitte & Touche L.L.P., Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, CA. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Houston with a B.S. in Business and Commerce and is a certified public accountant.

In related news, the Museum announced the following three staff appointments, effective immediately, two of which are newly created positions.

Mary Balthrop has been appointed the Museum’s first Secretary & General Counsel. Reporting to DMA Director Anderson, Balthrop will oversee the needs of the Board of Trustees as well as advise senior leadership on legal issues of significance to the Museum's operations. She joins the DMA from the Dallas office of Baker Botts L.L.P., where she worked as a transactional lawyer. Balthrop holds a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she earned the Order of the Coif distinction, and a BA in Sociology from Rice University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Following graduation from law school, Balthrop served as a law clerk to Justice Diane M. Henson of the Third Court of Appeals of Texas.

Aubrey DeZego has been named Director of Institutional Giving, a new position in the Museum’s development department. In her role, DeZego will cultivate, implement and manage a fundraising plan for securing grant and sponsorship funds from foundations, corporations, government agencies and community organizations in support of the DMA’s operations and strategic plan initiatives. She joins the DMA from the Indianapolis Museum of Art, where she held a variety of development positions of increasing responsibility since 2008, most recently as Assistant Director of Grants and Corporate Partnerships. DeZego is a graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis and holds a BS in Arts Administration.

Marin Fiske-Rankin has joined the DMA as Director of Special Events from the Meadows Museum, SMU, where she served for six years as Assistant Director of Events and Food Service Operations. Prior to moving to Dallas from Lexington, Kentucky, Fiske-Rankin was Events and Development Director at the Lexington Arts League and the former Membership and Education Director at Lexington’s Headley-Whitney Museum. Fiske-Rankin holds a BFA in Design and Visual Communications from Georgetown College, Georgetown, Kentucky.
