Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet

One of chamber music’s gems, Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet for piano and strings, is performed by members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Schubert’s art song “Die Forelle” (The Trout), which he uses in the Quintet, will be performed by acclaimed baritone David Grogan, Associate Professor of Voice at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Musicians of the Dallas Opera

Dallas Opera Orchestra Principal Cello Mitch Maxwell joins guest pianist Keith Cerny, the Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO of the Dallas Opera, for Beethoven’s Variations on a Theme from The Magic Flute. The concert also features Dallas Opera musicians performing Wagner and Poulenc in addition to Bartok’s Contrasts played by Dallas-based Trio Kavanah.

Baroque and Classical

Dallas Symphony Orchestra Associate Principal Cello Jolyon Pegis performs three concerto masterworks by JC Bach, Vivaldi, and Boccherini bridging the span between the Baroque and Classical periods. Pegis is joined by string musicians including violinist Mark Miller, violist Ute Miller, DSO cellist Jeffrey Hood, DSO Principal Bass Nicolas Tsolainos, and Jonathan Tsay on harpsichord.

Sempre Libera

Dallas Symphony Orchestra Principal Bassoon Ted Soluri celebrates the recent release of his first CD, Sempre Libera, a collection of opera arias arranged for bassoon and piano. Pianist Valerie Trujillo joins Soluri in this enticing program of opera favorites from Mozart’s “Voi che sapete” to Verdi’s “Sempre Libera.”

The Charles Barr Memorial Concert

The Charles Barr Memorial Concert features the extraordinary talent and inspirational music making of violist Rebecca Glass. Blind from birth, the Plano native recently completed her Doctor of Musical Arts in Viola Performance at the renowned Cleveland Institute of Music. Dr. Glass will perform in recital with pianist Alicja Basinka.
