Writer and editor Ruth Reichl was the editor in chief of Gourmet magazine for ten years until its closing in 2009. Before that, she was the restaurant critic of the New York Times (1993–1999), and both the restaurant critic and food editor of the Los Angeles Times (1984–1993). Since then, she has authored the critically acclaimed, bestselling memoirs Tender at the Bone, Comfort Me with Apples, Garlic and Sapphires, and For You Mom, Finally.
In Reichl’s first fiction novel, Delicious!, Billie Breslin moves from California to begin a new job at Delicious, the most iconic food magazine in New York, and thus, the world. But when the publication shuts down, Billie is nominated to uphold the “Delicious Guarantee,” a public relations hotline for complaints and recipe inquiries, until further notice. What she doesn’t know is that this boring, lonely job will be the portal to a life-changing discovery.
Reichl has been honored with six James Beard Awards. She is the host and executive producer of Gourmet’s Adventures with Ruth and Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie on PBS, as well as a judge on Bravo’s competitive cooking show Top Chef Masters.
